Each one of us, who have a handsome memory of events before 2010, the time when mobiles were uncommon and internet was expensive can relate to the following few sentences. It was the time when people would sit and talk with each other. There used to be times when someone would say things that the others might think to be untrue or unsure about. These things could be basic such as the capital of a country or state, to the name of a bird, or even things such as sleeping under trees at night can do you this and that. These unsure or random things would be open invitations for further discussions, arguments, laughter and eventually memories. Not knowing the correct fact ironically was unknowingly building a social profile of ours where we could engage with people and take forward talks from one topic to another.
Today on the other hand, the moment we are unsure of any small thing while having a conversation, we quickly access the internet and get the fact right. Now for some things such as fake news and it’s propagation, it is of vital importance for the facts to be checked, particularly in the times we are living in.
But for normal conversations where facts are less important than the moment, the eagerness to be correct or to correct others is literally like a fly in an ointment, something that kills the relevance of the main idea. Particularly for a person like me who heavily believes in giving more importance to human relations and conversations than being correct all the time, there is great pleasure in not knowing everything every time. So many fact checkers and so few storytellers. How boring is that!
This was just another of my many random thoughts that I thought I should pen down today. Below is my random video of enjoying an auto rickshaw ride.
Nice ride ! 🤟🏼🙂
